Short Description:
How far we need to walk down before thinking positive about woman? Even how far we did go? After the independence of Bangladesh, many years have passed. We celebrated our independence day every year by waving flag, loud music, and full of festival vibes. There is no compromise to celebrate the festival, but there is so much compromise in thinking on women’s life. By each day passing, Bangladesh’s social environment increasing more darkness for the women’s lifestyle. Till now in Bangladesh, women have to ask for their freedom. She cannot lead her life freely as a man does. Honestly speaking, independence does not have any limit. But women get their freedom in limited ways. Their opinions, lifestyle, work, art, love and sex dependon man’s approval. They are still afraid of man’s rule. A woman might be an artist, writer but they still have limitations to tell the truth. A man can write independently about his colorful life but there are always restrictions regarding women’s writing. This discrimination going for so long and it is still going on.
Bangladesh has crossed a very chagrin point about gender discrimination. Women’s empowerment still depends on men. Till now women cannot bring their freedom by their own. They feel happy in man’s approval. Already decided that, women represent the darkness of the society. An woman can be a mother, wife but still no one values a woman as a human being. Till now women who have been kidnapped do not know the truth regarding their kidnapping. Till now women carry stigma of being raped. And the reason behind this, as society determines, is her own cause. In our society, many gentlemen believe that, main reason of being raped is woman’s character, their dress up. For these particular reasons, in our society women in the working field is getting lower day by day. Due to discrimination in the society woman cannot work in manufacturing field rather than they are involved in the household works without salary.
Women’s fight for their rights is not new. It has been happening for many years. Discrimination might have effect little less somewhere. But we have to admit that, there is still discrimination. Yet there is a question about rights. Murder, rape all sorts of brutal activities are still existence in woman’s pathways. “Shut Up”uttered by husbands make women feel pity and our society loves to admit it. Our society always accepted this, including parents. This is the inner problem of oursociety. These shortcomings are accepted in silence. Even though the woman herself accepted this fact.
Some exceptional Miracle happens sometimes. Luisen born in Saudi Arabia, bravely Rubina and Nusrat from Bangladesh, Malala from Pakistan, CaptainMarwaElselehdar from Egypt, Bus driver Puja Devi from Jammu Kashmirand engineer & astronaut Nora Al Matrooshi from United Arab Emirates are some exceptional examples. Kadambini from India and Begum Rokeya from Bangladesh and many more anonymous women inspire us by their activities too.
I tried to share my unspoken thoughts about women empowerment through this book. I gave some examples of women who never gave up. Besides I have mentioned the ongoing social problems in our society. I tried to appeal people rethink about women’s rights and their values in the society.
